This course is divided into two units:

  • the theory or knowledge unit (Unit 1) and
  • the practical unit (Unit 2) when the learners will be working face-to-face with the tutor either in-person or on Zoom.

Unit 1 starts with information you will need about the changes that occur  after childbirth, what happens to the mothers’ bodies and their emotions, what exercise and physical activity can be beneficial and what should be avoided because of the risks.  The next module looks at healthy eating and nutrition for the postnatal mother and what food, beverages and herbs should be avoided. The final e-learning module will focus on how to be professional as a specialist teacher for Postnatal Yoga students,  learning how to liaise with other professionals and creating a marketing plan for your eventual classes.  If you have already done the final module for the Teaching Antenatal Yoga course, that work can be submitted as Recognised Prior Learning, i.e. you will not have to repeat  what you have already done on liaising with other professionals in the perinatal community nor will you need to create a separate marketing plan for your eventual postnatal yoga classes. For most of the modules, there will be a video which has an interactive quiz which provides automatic formative assessment.  Please be sure to finish the video and wait for it to say EXIT VIDEO or else it may not let you go onto the next part of the e-learning.

At the end of each e-learning assignment, you will then provide written answers in an electronic workbook.  The words need to be your own words and not plagiarised from any of the sources you have used to do your research. Please do not use Chat GPT or any other AI software. If you paraphrase or directly quote from a source, you need to briefly cite your sources at the bottom of your answer.   Please use SAVE AND RESUME LATER and request the email with the link to resume so that you can come back to your answers later.  When you are ready to share your work for initial assessment, DO NOT PRESS SUBMIT,  but instead use SAVE AND RESUME LATER.  Let your assessor know when it is ready to be viewed.   If one of your answers is incomplete, your assessor can refer it back to you for improvements, and you still need to be able to edit the work.  Continue the process until  your assessor says it is okay for you to press SUBMIT FINAL VERSION.  After that point, you will not be able to edit it, the file becomes stored on your e-portfolio.

Then we start the practical Unit 2 course dates on Zoom on 13 June!
