She also worked as a BWY verifier and served on the BWY Education Committee for 11 years, including as Vice Chair. In 2010, she pioneered the Gentle Years Yoga chair-based programme for older adults with long-term conditions and co-authored its teacher training course. She was instrumental in getting the NIHR funding for the 4 year Gentle Years Yoga research trial and was on the trial’s management team.

As BWYQ Chair Laura acquired the funding for BWYQ’s pilot research study on Yoga for Generalised Anxiety Disorder (YOGAD) in 2024 and a new BWYQ qualification based on the study results will be put on the framework in 2025.  Laura will soon be retiring from the British Wheel of Yoga Qualifications (BWYQ) trustee board after nine years of service.  She is looking forward to returning to training as she believes the  new Level 3 Technical Specialist qualifications in teaching yoga, antenatal yoga, postnatal yoga, and mind-body exercises for older adults will bring transformation to the health and wellbeing of the nation. As the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Mindbody Wellness, she is keen to reduce health inequalities in areas where there is a scarcity of yoga and mindbody wellness teachers. By recruiting aspiring trainee-teachers from underrepresented communities, positive change can occur.
